LAUREL – A 17-year-old teenager who would have been celebrated his 18th birthday in a few days was shot and killed Tuesday night in Laurel.
The shooting took place around 8:30 p.m. on Larchdale Road near Contee Road next to Saint Nicholas Catholic Church.
When emergency personnel arrived on the scene they located Dustin Khoury of Thomas Lane in Sparrows Point inside a car in the middle of the road suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was transported a Laurel Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Accoriding to a police spokesperson, a preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting happened over an alleged illegal transaction.
A source said at the time of the shooting a friend of Khoury’s was inside the vehicle.
“We are not sure if another vehicle was involved in the shooting or if someone approached the vehicle and open fire,” said Cpl. Tyler Hunter, a spokesperson for the Prince George's County Police Department. “That will be part of our investigation.”
Homicide detectives on the scene believe this was not a random act and are working to identify the suspect(s) and motive in this case.
