BLADENSBURG – Prince George's County has recorded its 58th homicide of the year after an adult male was shot early Tuesday morning in Bladensburg.
Just before 12:30 a.m., patrol units from Bladensburg Town Police, along with units from Prince George's County Police, responded to the sounds of gun fire in the 4300 block of 57th Avenue near Bladensburg High School.
Upon arrival, they located an adult male in the middle of the street suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was transported to Prince George's County Trauma Center, but despite the efforts of doctors, were unable to save the man.
Homicide detectives from the police department were called to the scene to help canvas the area and to take over the investigation.
Detectives do not believe it was a random act and are working to identify a suspect(s) and motive in this case. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the homicide unit at 301-772-4925.
