Landover man dies six days after being shot

HomicideLANDOVER – On Aug. 3, Prince George's County Police Department's homicide unit was notified by hospital officials that 29-year-old Kevin Hawkins of Harrods Way in Landover had died from gunshot wounds he received after being shot in District Heights.

His death has been ruled a homicide.

On July 29 around 11:30 a.m., units from both the Prince George's County police and fire departments responded to check on the welfare of a man lying in the street in the 1400 block of Pine Grove Road just off Addison Road.

Upon arrival, emergency personal found Hawkins lying on the side of the road suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was transported by a county medic unit to a nearby trauma center with life-threatening injuries.

Detectives do not believe Hawkins's homicide was random and are now working to identify a suspect(s) and motive in this case. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. Tipsters will never have to give their name.
