OXON HILL – For a short period of time Tuesday morning, Potomac High School was placed on lock down by school officials after a school resource officer (SRO) recovered a gun from a student.
Just before 9:30 a.m., a Prince George's County Police Officer who was working as a SRO was informed by a teacher of a trespasser, who was a former student, talking with a current student.
According to Cpl. Harry Bond, spokesperson for Prince George's County Police, the SRO found surveillance video of the trespasser talking with a current student. The officer then questioned the current student, and during questioning, the officer recovered a gun from the student. The student was placed under arrest by the officer.
Police are trying to determine why the student was carrying a gun and are also to identity the former student.
