Fort Washington man becomes county's 71 homicide victim of the year

homicideDISTRICT HEIGHTS – A 51-year-old Fort Washington man has become the county's 71st homicide victim of the year after he was shot Sunday morning in District Heights.

Just before 11 a.m., patrol units from the District Heights and Prince George's County Police Departments, along fire/EMS units from the county fire department, responded to the 6500 block of Kipling Parkway just off Marlboro Pike for a report of an unconscious man in an alleyway.

When units arrived they found Charles Wyche of Sero Estates Drive in Fort Washington suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to court records, Wyche was arrested in August 2016 for theft, forgery and issuing false documents.

Detectives do not believe this was a random act and are working to identify a suspect(s) and motive in this case. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the homicide unit at 301-772-4925
