RITCHIE – One person was killed and two others were injured on Nov. 3 in a motor vehicle accident in Ritchie.
Just after 8 p.m., units from the Prince George's County Fire Department responded to the 400 block of Ritchie Road for the report of a collision involving a car and a bus.
According to fire officials on the scene, when units arrived they encountered two people trapped in one vehicle. Firefighters from the Kentland Volunteer Fire Department quickly extricated the passenger from the vehicle. He was transported to a trauma center in serious condition, but had non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver, who police have identified as 44-year-old Marcus Moore of Lake Grove Court in Crofton, suffered life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The bus driver was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. There were no passengers on the bus.
Officials from the Prince George's County Police Department's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit believe Moore was heading northbound on Ritchie Road when, reasons that remain unclear, his car crossed the center line and struck the bus that was traveling southbound.
