ACCOKEEK – Maryland State Troopers from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested a 23-year-old Accokeek man on Wednesday for the distribution and possession of child pornography.
Early Wednesday morning shortly before 9 a.m., troopers arrested Austin Whyte at his residence without incident and charged him with three counts of distribution of child pornography and six counts of possession of child pornography.
Police officials said troopers, along with enforcement personnel from Homeland Security Investigations and the Prince Georges County Police, served the search warrant at Whyte’s residence. During the search of Whyte’s residence, units found multiple files of child pornography on his electronic devices.
The Maryland State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force became involved after receiving a referral from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in reference to the distribution of child pornography from a specific internet address.
The task force assumed the investigation, which led to the identification of a residence and issuance of a search warrant for that location.
