Police make arrest in September homicide

septhomiLANDOVER – It took almost two months, but homicide detectives from the Prince George's County Police Department have made an arrest in the homicide of 20-year-old Ibrahim Kamara of the 11200 block of Hannah Way in Upper Marlboro.

Detectives arrested 25-year-old Anthony Stewart of the 1700 block of Lyman Place in Northeast, D.C. and charged him with first and second-degree murder, first-degree assault and other charges.

In the early hours of Sept. 27, police and fire/EMS units from the county responded to Rocky Mount Drive for a shooting. When units arrived, they found Kamara in front of a house with a gunshot wound. He died at the scene.

According to court records, Kamara was arrested in December 2016 for first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, and carrying a hand gun along with other charges.

Detectives believe the shooting stemmed from a dispute between the suspect and victim, who were acquaintances.

Stewart is in the custody of the county department of corrections on a no-bond status.
