DISTRICT HEIGHTS – Homicide detectives from the Prince George's County Police Department are investigating the county’s 75th homicide of the year after a man was found dead in District Heights.
Tuesday evening around 6:30 p.m., police were called to the Parkland Station Townhouse complex in the 6300 block of Sunvalley Terrace for the sound of gunshots.
Upon arrival, officers canvassed the area, were unable to find anything and cleared the scene.
Later, according to officials, around 9:30 p.m. a resident who lives in the complex discovered an adult male in his 20s on a footpath behind the complex unconscious and bleeding. They then called 911 for help.
Units from the Prince George's County Fire Department, along with patrol units from the District Heights Town Police Department, responded to the scene. When units arrived and located the victim, they determined the victim was shot in his upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Homicide detectives were called to the scene to take over the investigation and are working to identify a suspect(s) and motive in this case.
