Alleged attempted robbery ends in death

IMG 1231HYATTSVILLE - An early morning shooting left one man dead who allegedly attempted to steal a truck from a Hyattsville home.

Just after 2:00 a.m. on Dec. 19, Prince George's County Police Department officers along with firefighters and medics from Prince George's County Fire/EMS Station 844 responded to the 6200 block of Sligo Parkway in the Brookside Manor to a shooting.

According to officials on the scene, emergency personnel arrived and found an adult male inside a truck suffering from a gunshot wound to his head after being shot by the homeowner.

Emergency medical personnel attempted life-saving measures on the victim, but he was pronounced dead a shortly after.

"Our detectives are investigating the shooting to determine if the shooting was a justified homicide, they will be consulting with the States Attorney's Office regarding any potential criminal charges in the case," Prince George's County Police Department spokesperson Cpl. Tyler Hunter said.
