NEW CARROLLTON – A 34-year-old New Carrollton man has become a homicide victim.
Around 3:30 a.m. on Jan 1st, officers from the New Carrollton Police Department along with patrol units from Prince George's County Police Department responded to a house in the 6400 block of Carrollton Court for a stabbing.
When they arrived, they located 34-year-old Elder Cruz Perez inside the house suffering from stab wounds to his upper body. He was transported to a trauma center where he later was pronounced dead.
Officers on the scene arrested 19-year-old Jose Hernandez-Cardenas of Carrollton Court and charged him with first and second-degree murder.
Police said that Perez, who rented out a portion of his home to Hernandez-Cardenas, got into an argument resulting in Hernandez-Cardenas stabbing Perez.
Hernandez-Cardenas is now in custody at the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
