Three men charged with First-Degree Murder

The Three Arrested1LARGO – It took over a year, but through various investigative techniques, homicide detectives from Prince George's County Police Department have arrested three males for the fatal shooting of Allyssa Banks that occurred on October 23, 2016, in Largo.

Detectives arrested 20-year-old Thomas Demetrius Jenkins of  Riverdale, 23-year-old Daniel Thomas Butler of Laurel and 21-year-old Josue Vasques of New Carrollton.

According to court records, just before 2 a.m. on Oct. 23, 2016, Banks was helping her boyfriend park his car when Vasques allegedly came up to them and asked where are they from before shooting the two. Banks was transported to the hospital where she later died. Her boyfriend, who was shot as well, survived his injuries.

Police said the three men are members of a Riverdale crew were allegedly looking to settle a score with the Largo crew.

Banks and her boyfriend were innocent and had no involvement in the feud according to prosecutors. It appears they were randomly targeted.

Banks and her boyfriend had just graduated from high school and were planning to become paramedics.

"These are completely innocent victims," Prince George's County Police Chief Hank Stawinski said. "There was nothing in their conduct, in their behavior, in the relationships that would connect them with the perpetrators of this murder. That speaks to the relentless drive of these investigators to find the perpetrator when you essentially have nothing to start with."

All three have been charged with first-degree murder and related charges. They are in the custody of the department of corrections on a no-bond status.
