CAPITOL HEIGHTS – A 32-year-old Capitol Heights man has become the seventh homicide victim of the year on Jan. 4 after he was stabbed to death in Capitol Heights.
Police and fire/EMS units from Prince George's County responded to the parking lot of Discount Tobacco Shop in the 4800 block of Marlboro Pike in Capitol Heights for a stabbing.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel found Joseph Whack unresponsive lying in the parking lot, and they allegedly quickly started CPR. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
According to court records, Whack had been allegedly arrested several times in the county for assault, disorderly conduct, theft and other crimes.
Homicide detectives on the scene do not believe this was a random crime and they are working to establish a motive and identify a suspect(s).
A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the Homicide Unit at 301-772-4925.
