Woman found dead in Chillum

IMG 3196CHILLUM – A woman was found dead on April 10 across near a Chillum apartment complex and has become the county's 16th homicide victim of the year in Prince George's County. 

Police were called shortly before 12:30 a.m. for the sound of gunfire in the woods across from the Landmark apartment complex on 16th Avenue near Cypress Creek Avenue.

Patrol units from National Capitol Park Police along with units from the county police department and fire department responded to the scene.

They located an adult female on the sidewalk near the woods allegedly suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to her upper body.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police officials on the scene said they located several shell casings on the scene near the victim. Police have identified the woman as 51-year-old Brenda Swann of Rhode Island Avenue in Brentwood.

Homicide detectives from the Prince George's County Police Department believe this was not a random act and are working to identify a suspect (s) in this case
