LAUREL – Laurel City police are investigating the city's second homicide of the year after a man was found shot inside a vehicle on April 24 near a townhouse complex in Laurel.
At around 7:30 p.m., patrol units from Laurel Police Department and units from Laurel Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on the 15800 block of Millbrook Lane.
As units responded to the incident, they discovered a disabled vehicle in the area of Millbrook Lane and Sandy Spring Road. Police found the victim and identified him as 18-year-old William Riley, Jr. suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was transported to Prince George’s Hospital Center where he died from his injuries.
According to police officials, detectives have interviewed multiple witnesses and have determined that Riley was shot inside his vehicle on Millbrook Lane and while attempting to drive away allegedly struck the parked vehicle.
During a search of the area by police discovered a second vehicle parked in the 15800 block of Millbrook Lane with damage consistent with damage on the victim’s car.
Investigators do not have a motive for the shooting at this time, but it does not appear to be a random incident and police are working to identify a suspect (s).
