SEABROOK – An early Sunday morning shooting at a Seabrook church has left a man in critical condition.
Around 2:45 a.m. on May 13, police and fire units from Prince George's County responded to St Matthias the Apostle Catholic Church on the 9400 block of Annapolis Road for a reported shooting.
Upon arrival, police quickly learned that an adult male in his 20's was allegedly shot multiple times. He was taken to the hospital by another individual in a car suffering from gunshot wounds to his leg and stomach.
"We understand there was a fight between the man who was shot and another individual inside a bathroom of Friendship Hall which is in the basement of the church," said Cpl Lamar Robinson, spokesperson for the county police department.
The parish hall was rented out for an event at the time.
A group of people who were attending the event was able to detain the shooter until police arrived and the suspect was later taken into custody. Police on the scene recovered the gun that was used in the shooting. Detectives are trying to determine a motive for the shooting.
