Police make arrests in Temple Hills homicide
Kenneth Edward Morgan, 30, Jose Ricardo Odom Jr., 20, have been arrested in connection with the death of Derelle Leland Hunt, that occurred Dec. 1 on Southern Avenue, Temple Hills.
Kenneth Morgan, of the 7400 block of Village Green Terrace, Landover, was apprehended in Washington, D.C., and is awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County. Odom, of the 1900 block of Brooks Drive, Capitol Heights, has also been arrested for his involvement in this case.
On Dec. 1, at approximately 11:57 p.m., officers responded to the 2400 block of Southern Avenue for the sound of gunshots. When officers arrived, they discovered 32-year-old Leland Derelle Hunt of the 4300 block of Telfair Boulevard, Camp Springs, suffering from a gunshot wound to his body. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police investigate homicide in New Carrollton
The New Carrollton City Police Department, with the assistance of the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit, are investigating a homicide that occurred Friday in New Carrollton.
On Dec. 4, at approximately 6:04 a.m., officers responded to the area of Inlet Street and Jodie Street to the report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they discovered 30-year-old Alexis Peña Cuevas lying on the ground suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Cuevas was pronounced dead on the scene.
Carjacking suspect apprehended in Seat Pleasant
On Dec. 2, Tennessee U.S. Senator Bob Corker’s daughter was carjacked in Chinatown, Washington, D.C. The suspects proceeded to Prince George’s County. Later that evening, Prince George’s County communications gave a broadcast that the car was being tracked by Onstar. The last known location was in the area of Central Avenue and Addison Road, in Seat Pleasant.
Seat Pleasant Police Officers Tracey Burnett, Jose Perez and Aaron Forester actively searched the area and located the vehicle in the Addison Plaza Shopping Center. The occupants were apprehended and transported to District III Criminal Investigation Division to be interviewed by Prince George’s County and Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police detectives.
Police investigate homicide in Mount Rainier
The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating a homicide that occurred early Saturday morning in which a male victim was found dead in Mount Rainier.
On Dec. 5, at approximately 4:47 a.m., officers responded to the 2700 block of Queens Chapel Road to check on the welfare of a male lying on the ground. Upon arrival officers discovered 25-year-old Hilario Antonio Garcia, of the 400 block of Jefferson Street NW, Washington, D.C., unresponsive and suffering from trauma to the body. Garcia was pronounced dead on the scene. Investigators are working to identify the suspect(s) and establish a motive in this case.
