An off-duty Alexandria deputy sheriff shot and killed an intruder Tuesday night at his Camp Springs home.

The deceased intruder was identified as Jon Adgrain Pocknett, 20, of Indian Head, according to Prince George’s County Police Department.

County police officers responded the 8400 block of Rose Marie Drive for a reported shooting around 11 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

Officers then made contact with the homeowner. The deputy told police he had just arrived home and discovered his front door was damaged. He went inside and was confronted by the intruder. The deputy then fatally shot Pocknett.

PGPD detectives believe Pockett was not alone when he burglarized the house.

Anyone with additional information about this case is asked to call the PGPD Homicide Unit at (301) 772-4925.
