Greenbelt Police arrested a Baltimore County man for drunk driving after his vehicle crashed into a van — injuring one person early Sunday.
Just after 3 a.m., units from Greenbelt and Berwyn Heights volunteer fire departments were dispatched to the intersection of Greenbelt Road and Southway to rescue a person trapped inside a vehicle following a crash.
Firefighters reported a woman was trapped inside the van involved in the two-vehicle collision. Berwyn Heights volunteer firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free the trapped woman.
According to Greenbelt Police, the driver of the striking car was traveling eastbound on Greenbelt Road and ran the red light at Southway — hitting the van with three passengers inside.
Two passengers freed themselves from the van, but the woman, who was trapped, suffered neck and back injuries. She was transported to a local hospital.
Marcus Rayshun, 27, of Gwynn Oak, was arrested on the scene and charged with driving under the influence, according to Kelly Lawson, Greenbelt Police Department spokesperson.
