A Mount Rainier homicide became the 54th of the year in Prince George's County.
Just after 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, Mount Rainier and Prince George's County police officers responded to the 3800 block of 37th Street near Rhode Island Avenue for sounds of gunfire.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man in the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was transported by a Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department medic unit to a local trauma center, where he was pronounced dead.
Prince George’s County Police Department homicide detectives are working to identify the victim as well as any suspects and a motive for the shooting.
