A District Heights man who attempted a home invasion at a District Heights apartment last Thursday night was shot by the resident.
Just before 11:30 p.m., Prince George’s County Police Department units responded to the 3300 block of Walters Lane for a reported shooting and home invasion.
Police officers found Paul Tyree Baltimore, 42, suffering from a single gunshot wound. Paramedics transported Baltimore to a local trauma center where he was treated for his injuries.
“It was determined during our investigation that Baltimore was knocking on multiple doors inside an apartment building,” PGPD spokesperson Cpl. Maria McKinney said.
“A resident of one of the doors he knocked on opened his door to investigate,” McKinney added. “After he opened the door, Baltimore forced him inside the apartment and attacked the resident. The resident was armed with a hand gun and during the attack shot the suspect.”
McKinney also said the suspect fled the apartment after he was shot, but during a search of the area police located Baltimore and arrested him.
Baltimore is charged with two counts of first-degree burglary and first-degree assault among other related charges.
Police officials said that Baltimore may have been under the influence of controlled dangerous substances.
