Just after 2 a.m. Monday Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department was dispatched to the 6300 block of Cipriano Road in Lanham for a reported motor vehicle crash with a person trapped inside.
First arriving units from the West Lanham Volunteer Fire Department Station 828 reported a two-car, head-on accident with a man trapped in each vehicle. Additional units were requested to the scene.
Firefighters from Rescue Squad 818 of the Glenn Dale Volunteer Fire Department and the crew from Rescue Squad 814 of the Berwyn Heights Volunteer Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to free both men.
Both crews freed the trapped men within 10 minutes of arriving on the scene. Both men were then transported to a local trauma center in serious condition.
The cause of the accident is under investigation, but police on the scene said alcohol may have been a factor.
