Two cousins who attend Vansville Elementary School in Beltsville received gifts from local firefighters.

Firefighters assigned to Beltsville Volunteer Fire Station 831 delivered food baskets Friday, Dec. 21, to residents who otherwise may not have been able to enjoy the holiday season.

Fire Capt. Jeff Pinkett and his crew arranged one such event. Pinkett worked with the school’s principal and staff to select a family that would appreciate the support.

Firefighters arrived at the school in the morning and enjoyed presenting the toys to the pair of cousins. First grade student Jordy and Head Start student Dillon were thrilled and excited to open up the presents in front of the firefighters.

“My crew and I were more thrilled then the kids,” Pinkett said.
