Baysox first baseman Christian Walker was recently named the Eastern League Player of the week earlier this month. His success at the plate was noticed for the week ending Sunday, April 20,after hitting his first and second career
DoubleA home runs this week. He has been the driving force behind the Baysox offensive efforts so far this season.
“I have been getting my body in a better position to hit, freeing up my hands a little bit,”said Walker. “Once you get a few to fall in for you, it builds a little confidence. It's definitely easier to hit when you have that confidence on your side.”
Walker has been on a tear offensively during that span by going 819 at the dish with a triple, two home runs, six RBI and five runs scored. He has hit safely in eight consecutive games dating back to April 11 with four multihit games during that time.
Walker currently boasts a (.330) batting average with five homeruns,18 runs, 32 hits, 19RBI, and has an on base percentage of (.365). He was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the fourth round of the 2012 FirstYear Player Draft out of the University of South Carolina. Walker was ranked 17 among Orioles prospects by MLB.com entering the 2013 season and he has shown that his stock is rising during his 2014 campaign.
