DISTRICT HEIGHTS – For the fifth time in the last seven days, homicide detectives from the Prince George's County Police Department are investigating a homicide in the county.
The 19th homicide of 2017 happened Wednesday night after a man was found dead in the parking lot of a liquor store in District Heights.
Around 11:30 p.m., a citizen flagged down an officer on patrol and informed them of a man lying in the parking lot of Oakcrest Liquor Store in the 5200 block of Marlboro Pike near Brooks Drive.
When the officer arrived, they found 31-year-old Timothy Wimbush of W Street in Southeast Washington, D.C. suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Detectives do not believe this as a random act and are working to identify a motive and suspects in this fatal shooting. A cash reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
