SUITLAND – It took less than 48 hours for detectives from Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit to make an arrest in the homicide of 29-year-old Lafeal Sinclair, who was shot to death Tuesday in the parking lot of a Suitland apartment complex.
County detectives, along with police officers from the Alexandria Police Department, arrested 24-year-old Charles Romain of Madison Street in Alexandria and charged him with first and second-degree murder.
Just after 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, police say Sinclair was shot multiple times by Romain in the parking lot of Capitol Crossing Apartment complex in the 3900 block of Suitland Road near Southern Avenue. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
According to officials, the motive of the shooting appears to be a drug-related robbery.
Romain is in Alexandria awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County.
