BLADENSBURG – Prince George's County Police are investigating a fatal accident that happened Saturday night that left one man dead and a second man in critical condition.
Just before 10:30 p.m., units from the Prince George's County Fire Department, along with patrol units from the county police department, responded for a motor vehicle accident with a report of people trapped at the intersection of Kenilworth Avenue and Lawrence Street.
“When units arrived on the scene a car was up against a building with two adult males still inside the vehicle,” said Mark Brady, spokesperson for the county fire department. “Firefighters were able to extricate the driver. He was taken to a local trauma center in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, but the passenger did not survive the crash. He was pronounced dead on the scene by our paramedics.”
According to police officials, the car was traveling southbound on Kenilworth Avenue when it is believed the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn and crash into the side of a building.
Police closed down Kenilworth Avenue for several hours to investigate the crash.
