TEMPLE HILLS -- A Temple Hills man has become the 67th homicide victim of the year in Prince George's County.
George Barnes, 52, of Southern Avenue, was shot around 11 a.m. on Sept. 8 in the 2500 block of Southern Avenue, along the DC/Prince George’s County line.
Police and Fire/EMS units from Prince George's County were called to an apartment building for an adult suffering gunshot wounds to his upper body. Paramedics transported the victim to a nearby hospital, but due to his wounds, doctors were unable to save him.
Detectives are working to identify a motive and the suspect(s).
A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.

Residents who live along Southern Avenue are accustomed to shootings there.
Police from both Prince George's County and the District of Columbia have responded a number of fatal shootings along Southern Avenue this year. In June 29-year-old Demetrist Glover of Just Street Northeast was shot and killed in the 1400 block of Southern Avenue. In February, 18-year-old Randy Franklin, Jr. was shot and killed in the 2600 block of Southern Avenue.
