SEABROOK – During the upcoming June primary election, voters will have the opportunity to choose the next clerk of the circuit court for Prince George’s County. The clerk of the circuit court is a state official whose responsibilities include record-keeping, maintaining relevant books and papers, providing copies of legal documents and issuing writs.

State Senate candidates talk legislation at forum

LANDOVER – Eight of the candidates for Maryland State Senate for Legislative Districts 23, 24 and 25 discussed current and potential state legislation and their impact on the county during a forum on May 24 at the First Baptist Church of Glenarden. Congregant and sports broadcaster Lou Holder moderated the discussion. The church’s Civic Engagement Ministry developed the questions posed to the candidates. Each candidate answered two questions.

Primary election coverage: District 9 candidates

SEABROOK – The county is about a month out from the June primaries. As all of the candidates running for the county council District 9 seat are registered Democrats, this primary will likely determine the next councilmember for that area. This year’s candidates are Orlando Barnes, Tanya Brooks, Tamara Davis Brown, Kevin Harris, Sydney Harrison, Daren Hester, Jeffrey Rascoe and Rodney Taylor. Sherman Hardy withdrew from the race in December.

Primary election coverage: District 8 candidates

Elections VOTESEABROOK – As the June 26 primary inches closer, local candidates are gearing up for the election. Candidates Monique Anderson-Walker, Carlton Carter, Tony Knotts, Karen Porter and Markida Walker are running for the county council District 8 seat, which is being vacated by Obie Patterson. All of these candidates are running as Democrats. District 8 includes Camp Springs, Oxon Hill and Fort Washington.
