A man was shot during a home invasion Tuesday morning in Fort Washington. Police believe it was a random crime.
Just before 2:30 a.m. Prince George’s County police responded to the 9100 block of Loughran Road for a reported shooting and residential robbery. Upon arrival, patrol officers found a man in the living room. He appeared to have been shot in the back.
The victim was transported to a local trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries. He was treated and released later that afternoon.
According to police officials, several armed suspects forced their way into the home where the man, his wife and 16-year-old daughter were sleeping.
The homeowner confronted the suspects who made demands for his property. A confrontation broke out, during which the victim was shot. The suspects then ran away, stealing an undetermined amount of money and jewelry.
Detectives do not have evidence to suggest the suspects targeted the home.
