A Landover teenager faces murder charges for the stabbing death of his boyfriend.
Prince George’s County police officers found Avery Joshua Lewis, 20, of District Heights, stabbed multiple times just after 12:30 a.m. Aug. 31 in the 8100 block of Allendale Drive in Landover.
Lewis was pronounced dead at a hospital a short time later.
Homicide detectives arrested TyLee Lindale Dodson, 17. Dodson is being charged as an adult.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Lewis and Dodson argued inside of Dodson’s home and the fight became physical. Lewis left the home, and Dodson followed him outside where the fighting continued. During that fight, Dodson stabbed Lewis. Dodson and Lewis were in a romantic relationship, police said.
Patrol officers arrested Dodson at the scene. He has admitted his involvement and faces first- and second-degree murder charges. He remains in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
Lewis is the 40th homicide victim of 2013 in Prince George’s County. The county had 41 homicides by this date in 2012.
