A 27-year-old retired Marine was killed in a hit-and-run collision Sunday in Clinton.

Just before 2:30 a.m. Sunday, Eric Derron Bridgett was walking home from his mother’s residence when he was hit and killed as he crossed Kirby Road in Clinton, police said.

Bridgett was found lying on the side of the road and was not in a crosswalk when he was struck, police said.

Bridgett had served two tours of duty in Afghanistan and had just moved back home to be close to his family. He spent the past two-and-a-half years at Camp Pendleton in California.

Bridgett is survived by his three children, Aiden, 5; Abigail, 3, and 4-month-old Avi.

Detectives are seeking witnesses. Police urge anyone with information about this fatal hit-and-run to call Prince George’s County Police Department Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Unit at 301-731-4422. Callers wishing to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).
