Man found dead in Clinton

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating the death of a man whose body was found last week in Landover.

On Feb. 25, at approximately 3:56 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 8700 block of Hamlin Street for the report of a suspicious vehicle. 

When patrol officers arrived, they located a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado parked on the street. Upon inspection of the vehicle, they discovered the body of Vernon Tyrell Cooper, 39, of the 9400 block of Juliette Drive Clinton, inside of the vehicle. 

Cooper sustained trauma to his upper body and was pronounced dead on the scene. Further investigation revealed the victim had an extensive criminal background. 

A family member had reported Cooper missing on Jan. 24. Detectives are working to identify the suspect(s) and establish a motive in this case.

Police seek the identity of armed robbery suspect

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s District V Robbery Suppression Team is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with a citizen armed robbery that occurred in Upper Marlboro.

On Feb. 3, at approximately 6:50 p.m. the victim was walking to his vehicle parked in the 10300 block of Wood Sorrel Court, when an unknown suspect approached the victim, produced a handgun and demanded the victim’s wallet. 

The victim, in fear of his safety, complied and the suspect fled the scene on foot.

Three suspects arrested for armed robbery in Lanham

Three suspects were arrested in connection with an armed robbery last Tuesday night in Lanham. 

Arrested within minutes of the report were Ricardo Bullock, 19, of the 400 block Ventura Avenue in Capitol Heights, Xavier Page, 19, of the 7800 block of Johnson Avenue in Glenarden, and Mathew Foster, 19, of the 900 block of Dunster Drive in Oxon Hill. 

All three have been charged with armed robbery.

On Feb. 23, at approximately 11:50 a.m. District II Patrol Officers responded to the 5600 block of Whitfield Chapel Road for a citizen armed robbery. The victim was walking to his apartment when he was approached by two suspects displaying a handgun and a stun gun. 

The suspects took the victim’s property and fled to a waiting Silver Mercury Grand Marquis driven by the third suspect and proceeded to flee the apartment complex at a high rate of speed. Patrol officers in the area observed the fleeing vehicle and conducted a felony traffic stop near Whitfield Chapel and Keewatin Road.

The suspects were removed from the vehicle, positively identified and taken into custody. Recovered from inside of the vehicle was a handgun, a stun gun and the victim’s stolen property. The investigation is continuing.
