Former Skyline resident celebrates her 99th
Dorothy and her husband Vincent used to own Clinton Restaurant in Clinton but sold it around1960. Then Dorothy worked at Skyline Restaurant. Sometime after her dear husband Vincent died, Dorothy married Bill Stutz of Leonardtown, quit her job and moved to Leonardtown.
She currently lives with her daughter and son-in-law, Edie and Jack Reeves, in Leonardtown and, Dan says, is “still in great health.”
In addition to her children, Edie and Dan, she has seven grandchildren and nine great-grandkids.
Happy birthday, Dorothy! I hope to write about you again on March 18, 2014.
Surratt Society conference
One of the talks was by Kenneth J. Heineman, PhD, author and professor at Angelo State University in Texas. He spoke on Tom Ewing, Jr., the attorney who represented Dr. Samuel A. Mudd at the trial of the conspirators, following the assassination of President Lincoln.
Notice of this talk brought my brother Tom Mudd, with his wife Evelyn, to Maryland for the conference, since he is a great-grandchild of Dr. Mudd. As am I. Tom and I and my grandson Conor McHale attended and enjoyed a remarkable day of history — and delicious meals.
Among the awards given out during the conference were to the four youngest attendees. Three are college students, but the fourth, and youngest, is Aaron Morphew who attends Piccowaxen Middle School in Newburg.
Morningside memories — 60 years ago
May they rest in peace
Peter Dintino, 67, of La Plata, formerly of Bradbury Heights and a 1963 graduate of Suitland High School, died March 11 in Clinton. He was born in Washington, son of the late Alfred and Mary Dintino. He has two brothers, Alfred and Joseph, and three sisters, JoAnne Pounsberry, Rose Jenkins and Madeline Pell. Peter worked as a steamfitter and later for the D.C. government. He enjoyed music and the stock market, but also endured many health issues during his lifetime. Funeral services were at Sacred Heart Church in La Plata with burial at Cedar Hill.
Happy anniversary to Morrine and Harold Wilson on March 22; my daughter Kathleen and Jim Shearer, their 23rd on March 22; and Terry and Gina Foster, March 26.
Happy 90th birthday to Time magazine! I’ve been subscribing for about 50 years and have enjoyed spending time with Time.
