Heaven PerryGREENBELT – As her name was called, Heaven Perry gleefully strolled onto the red carpet in the middle of the Martin’s Crosswinds ballroom in Greenbelt. The audience gave the Tanglewood Regional School student a rousing ovation as she smiled and walked toward the front of the stage.

To his surprise, they were not upset. His players told him that this was a learning experience that they needed to go through that experience to complete their goal of winning a state title.

The Dr. Henry Wise, Jr. High School sophomore was accidentally hit by an opposing stick on her head during a loose ball scramble in a Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) 4A girls lacrosse state playoff match against Bowie High School on May 11.

Raiders lax teams dominate county championships

IsabellaGandolph lacrosseGREENBELT – As Eleanor Roosevelt Boys Lacrosse Head Coach Scott Sorenson received the Prince George’s County Championship, he held it high for a few moments in front of his team before handing it off to senior captain Elias Kallon. As the handoff was completed, other members of the Raiders team showered Sorenson with a celebratory water bath.
