SEAT PLEASANT – Seat Pleasant Police Chief Devan Martin is in critical condition after being involved in a motorcycle accident Thursday night in Seat Pleasant.
The accident happened around 8:45 p.m. in the 6100 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway near Glen Willow Drive.
According Seat Pleasant town officials, Martin was riding on his department motorcycle when he was thrown off after colliding with another vehicle. He was transported to Prince George's Hospital Trauma Center by county paramedics in serious condition but with non-life threatening injuries.
Prince George's County Police Chief Hank Stawinski rushed to the hospital with other county and Seat Pleasant police officers.
“I wish to inform the community Chief Martin is recovering,” Stawinski said. “He was on a department motorcycle wearing the proper attire when the accident occurred. I would like to thank the citizens who stopped and rendered aid to the chief, and the Prince George's County Fire Department who responded quickly and transported the chief.”
Prince George's County Police Department's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating the crash.
