CHEVERLY – A man is dead after he was struck by an Amtrak train on April 16 near Cheverly.
At around 4 p.m., units from Prince George's County Fire Department responded to the area of Landover Road and John Hanson Highway near the Cheverly Metro Station for a report of a person who was hit by a train.
"When our units arrived on the scene and located the victim, our medics determined the victim had suffered massive injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene," said Mark Brady, Spokesperson for Prince George's County Fire Department.
Officials from the Maryland Department of Transportation (MTA) said the pedestrian was trespassing when he was hit by the train.
A spokesman for Amtrak said Acela Express 2172, which was involved in the incident, was headed to Boston from D.C. with 212 passengers onboard.
