Sprint, PGCPS partner to bring 3,000 students Internet-capable devices

SprintDonation 02OXON HILL – For Potomac High School seniors Mecco Johnson and Keon Gilchrist, the past three years of high school were a bit of a struggle.

Neither had guaranteed access to the Internet and completing online homework, on time, forced them to find creative ways to get on the Internet. For Johnson, completing online homework required finding time during the school day, in breaks and during lunch, to take advantage of the school’s Internet.

Local and state leaders call for investigation into PGCPS grad rates

GradFraudRallySEABROOK – Local leaders are seeing a lot of smoke coming from Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) as a small coalition on the school board alleges that there is widespread graduation fraud, but the school system’s chief executive officer (CEO) claims the allegations are not evidence of fire, but just smoke and mirrors.

Community asks for full resources for students, teachers in PGCPS budget

PGCPS logoUPPER MARLBORO – Theresa Dudley, the president of the county teacher’s union, is furious.

Every year, it seems to her, the most important budget items to the Prince George’s County Educators Association (PGCEA) and to teachers are the first items struck from the budget when the county does not give the Prince George’s County Board of Education all the funds it asks for.
