Wise preserves untarnished season

Wise finished off Meade Saturday 40-0 in a powerful statement game leading the Pumas into the 4A State Championship game Friday at M&T Bank Stadium. Kenneth Scott-Kelow scored three touchdowns by the way of rushing, receiving and taking a punt return the distance. Kilo finished the game with 60 receiving yards and three rushes for 77 yards. Meade came into this contest confident and was hoping to avenge the Pumas in their second meeting, despite never reaching the state final. Wise has a tough test ahead of them against Quince Orchard, which has only dropped one loss so far this season.

Douglass advances to state final

Douglass will be representing the 2A division after a decisive 34-20 win over Edmondson-Westside on the road. Freshman quarterback Devin Butler threw for five touchdowns and 170 yards passing, while only missing three throws in the process. Senior wide receiver Paul Harris came out with his “A” game, having yet another 100-yard game receiving. The Eagles are really clicking collectively as a team right now, and this is not the same group of players that fell to Middletown last year in the state final. However, they get another shot at their bitter rival Saturday.

Back-to-back victories for Bowie State men’s basketball

After dropping the first five games of the season, Bowie State University’s men’s basketball team is now riding on a two-game win streak after defeating the University of Lynchburg, 101-83. Four of the five starters for the Bulldogs scored in double-figures with senior Byron Westmorland leading the pack — scoring 28 points, six rebounds and two assists. Things seem to be looking up for the Bulldogs, and the offense has been on fire these past two contests.
