A teenager was shot and robbed of his cell phone around 3:30 p.m. Dec. 4 in Chapel Oaks.
Prince George’s County police officials said this is the first confrontation over a cell phone reported this year in the county.
Police said a 16-year-old male was walking down the street when an armed suspect approached him and demanded he hand over his cell phone. The teenager refused to give up his phone and was shot in the arm, said police.
The victim was taken to an area hospital in stable condition and was released, said Cpl. Maria McKinney.
Last Thursday, Prince George’s County police arrested 17-year-old Derrick Anthony Wills, of Washington, D.C. Police officials said officers found Wills with the victim’s cell phone and the gun used in the crime.
Wills is being charged as an adult. He faces attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, theft and armed robbery charges. He is being held in jail without bond.
