DeMatha senior has college basketball options
DeMatha guard Corey Henson is searching for his perfect fit in the collegiate ranks. The All-Met selection helped the Stags defeat St. Johns 73-67 in the Rock Summer League Championship on July 9. Henson averaged more than 10 points per game and knocked down 48 3-pointers last season. Mount St. Mary’s, Navy, Robert Morris and Central Connecticut are just a few schools on the senior’s radar.
Divas fall to Militia in playoff game
The D.C. Divas lost 58-34 to the Boston Militia on Saturday for the fourth-straight time in the playoffs. The Divas were down by only one point at halftime, but the Militia quickly pulled away in the second half. Boston advanced to the next round against the Chicago Force. Despite compiling a record of 24-3 against other opponents, the Divas have lost 11 out of 12 meetings against the Boston Militia.
The Chesapeake Bayhawks were represented well Saturday in the 2013 Major League Lacrosse All-Star Game at the American Legion Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. Ben Rubeor scored three goals for the Supernova, and Kip Turner had 10 saves. Jeremy Sieverts (Denver) scored two goals and Bayhawks midfielder Steven Brooks scored a goal for the Eclipse to edge past the Supernova, 24-15.
Mystics top Silver Stars
The Washington Mystics defeated the San Antonio Silver Stars 83-73 on Friday. University of Maryland alumna Crystal Langhorne led the Mystics’ scoring with 14 points. Ivory Latta followed with 12 points. The Mystics overcame blowing a 14-point lead, responding when needed to win by 10.
