The Washington area team captured the sixth annual Maryland Army National Guard Crab Bowl last month at Kenneth R. Gill Stadium on the McDaniel College campus in Westminster.

Behind the stellar play of Bishop McNamara senior Jordan Crockett, the Washington team defeated Baltimore, 30-21.

Washington didn’t waste any time getting on the scoreboard.

On the game’s first play from scrimmage, DeMatha quarterback John Lovett connected with Crockett for a 76-yard touchdown.

Crockett said he felt comfortable playing with Lovett, a Princeton commit from a rival Washington Catholic Athletic Conference program.

“It was great because he knows my tendencies and I know some of his tendencies so once we got on the field we were able to click very well,” he said.

Crockett, who recently received his first scholarship offer from the University of Albany, later scored on a 78-yard kickoff return with 8:36 remaining in the second quarter to give Washington a 21-14 advantage.

“It was a wonderful opportunity, great competition,” said Crockett, a 5-foot-9, 170-pound athlete. “We came out here just to see where I stand against the rest of the top players in this area and I think I did pretty good.”

As for his college plans, Crockett said he plans to take the recruiting process slow and talk things over with his family before making a final decision. He said colleges are recruiting him to play various positions including slot receiver, cornerback and kick returner.

“Wherever they need me the most I’ll play,” he said.
