Four men were arrested for a 2010 shooting in District Heights that has now been ruled a homicide, according to Prince George’s County homicide detectives.
On Nov. 22, 2010, Prince George’s County police officers responded to the 2100 block of Brooks Drive for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers located Melvin Pate, 29, of Washington, D.C., suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body.
Pate was quickly transported by a Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department medic unit to a local trauma center. Nearly two years later, on Nov. 8, Pate died due to complications related to the gunshot wound. The manner of death has since been ruled a homicide.
On Tuesday, police officers arrested Jermaine Hailes, 22, of the District, and Ciree Petty, 21 of Capitol Heights. On Wednesday, police officers arrested Ramel Sanders, 22, of Clinton, and Mark Anderson, 22, of Waldorf. The four suspects have been charged with first- and second-degree murder and related charges.
