The Washington Redskins have teamed up with nonprofit organization Walking with Anthony and will host a golf tournament at the Country Club of Fairfax on Oct. 21. This inaugural event will help people who are affected by spinal cord injuries.
The Washington Redskins attending this event are: Hall of Fame wide receiver Charley Taylor, former NFL MVP Mark Mosley, Dexter Manley, and Larry Brown just to name a few. Former Redskins tight end and radio personality Rick “Doc” Walker will broadcast the tournament live on ESPN 980 and will serve as an emcee for the dinner.
World renowned leader in complex spinal injury Dr. John K. Star of Washington Orthopedics and Medicine will be honored for his efforts. Walking with Anthony will also hand out financial grants to Erica Predum and Chris Utz. All proceeds from this event will go towards Walking with Anthony with the love and support of Anthony Purcell.
Purcell was paralyzed in a car accident in 2010, but he can now stand with the support of a walker. He promotes awareness about the condition he has battled with over the years. With the help of funds raised from this event, Walking with Anthony hopes to expand their facilities and support research to SCI rehabilitation.
Registration for individual golfers is $400, foursomes are $1,500, and foursomes with Redskins Alumni are $2,500. Tickets for the dinner reception are only $150. To register for the golf tournament or to purchase tickets to the dinner reception, please go to walkingwithanthony.org.
