United blanks Columbus, Raiders and Mustangs pick up football wins

Luciano Acosta DKWASHINGTON, D.C. – D.C. United shutout Columbus Crew SC 3-0 on Sept. 28. United midfielder Lloyd Sam scored in the 71st minute after being assisted by Luciano Acosta.

United scored two more unanswered goals by Lamar Neagle (86') and Alvaro Saborio (90'). D.C. United will gear up to play their final home of the regular season against New York City FC on Oct. 16.

Eleanor Roosevelt’s football team took down Bladensburg 55-20 on Oct. 1. Roosevelt running back Karl Mofor had a monster day after he rushed for 232 yards and four touchdowns. Raiders quarterback Jaden Faulkner rushed for 80 yards on five carries and a touchdown as well to help lead his team to victory. Eleanor Roosevelt will take on Bowie on Oct. 8.

Bishop McNamara's football squad shutout Carroll 27-0 on Oct. 1. McNamara running back Xavier Williams led the Mustangs in rushing with 126 yards and a touchdown. Mustangs quarterback Stan Askew threw for 102 yards and tossed two scores during a successful performance. McNamara will go on to face DeMatha on Oct. 7.

Pallotti's girls’ soccer squad dismantled Cristo Rey Jesuit 9-1 on Sept. 27. Ayanna Green of Pallotti secured a hat trick and led the Panthers in scoring. Anastasia Barrett, Ottilie Wilcox, Tahlia Brown-Stangherlin, Mya Spivey and Kamylin Padgeham all scored one goal for Pallotti respectively.
