BEL AIR – Gwynn Park continued its magical run as the Yellowjackets handed Harford Tech its first loss of the season last Saturday night.
Gwynn Park used touchdowns by Terrell Lindsey and Kelvon Brooks to upend the Cobras, 16-9, in the MPSSAA 2A state semifinals.
Lindsey capped off Gwynn Park’s first drive of the night with a 1-yard touchdown run after the Yellowjacket defense snuffed out Harford Tech’s first possession. Kicker Mohamed M’Baye added a field goal late in the second quarter to make the score 9-2 heading into the break.
The Cobras (12-1) finally found the endzone in the third quarter when Noah Long hauled in a 20-yard touchdown pass to tie the game at nine. However, it would be the last points Harford Tech would score this season.
Gwynn Park quarterback Kamari Brown then broke off two nice runs before hitting Brooks for the eventual game-winning score.
Harford Tech got the ball back twice, but turned the ball over on downs before Kibwe Galloway intercepted a pass on the final possession to essentially end the game.
Gwynn Park will play Damascus (13-0) in the state championship on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
