BENNSVILLE - Chick-fil-A restaurants in the DMV teamed up to host the 2017 Chick-fil-A Challenge Senior football game featuring Prince George's County senior student-athletes battling against the Southern Maryland Athletic Conference (SMAC).
Held at North Point High School on Dec. 8, the series between both sides was tied previously.
However, SMAC took home a 23-6 victory over the PG squad after taking a commanding 14-0 lead into halftime. SMAC lost its last six contests against PG and lost by 36 points (48-12) just a year ago. It all started in 2008 when the sponsors got together to provide one final game for the seniors to remember.
Northwestern's Binson Mondestin (bottom middle) scored PG's only points of the match after he found paydirt from 14 yards out on a six-play, 85-yard scoring drive in the third quarter.
SMAC scored once again after Mondestin’s touchdown scamper when Reese Crounse of Northern hit Thomas Stone’s Hezikiah Hawkins on a 23-yard touchdown. The PG squad will have an opportunity to rebound in next year’s installment.
