PGCC Logo10BALTIMORE – The Prince George’s Community College baseball team’s early-season struggles continued on April 5 with a 17-7 loss to CCBC Catonsville.

The Owls slipped to 9-13 overall and 3-6 in MD JUCO action with the loss. Brandon Crosby led the offense with three RBI thanks to two hits and also scored a run.

Bay To added two hits plus an RBI with a run scored. Austin Adams and Tommy Petrosino both scored twice and got a hit respectively.

PGCC rallied for five runs in the third and took a 5-4 lead. Crosby got a two-run single; To added an RBI double that tied the game. The Owls scored once more on a double play for that one-run edge.

A Crosby sacrifice fly put the Owls up 6-5 in the bottom of the fourth before the Cardinals took charge. They scored five times in the sixth to make it 10-6.

PGCC cut it to 10-7 when Vinny Petrosino scored on an error. After that, though, it was all CCBC Catonsville as it scored three runs in the eighth and four in the ninth for the 10-run margin of victory.

Earlier in the week, the Owls suffered a 13-2 loss to Harford Community College.

Adams had a hit and a run scored in the loss while Petrosino added a run. The game was tied at two after one inning before Harford took over.

Harford then scored one run in the second inning and blew the game open with a seven-run third. After that came a run in the fifth plus two more in the sixth.

The Owls finished with just two hits, one in the first and just one the rest of the way. They had three batters reach after getting hit by a pitch and got only four players on base after that opening two-run inning.

The weather problems throughout March have caused PGCC to reschedule six games. Road contests versus CCBC Essex (April 25), Harford Community College (April 24) and CCBC Catonsville (May 1) and Garrett (April 22) are all set.

A home game against CCBC Dundalk was moved to April 2 and another home game, versus Southern Maryland, has yet to be re-scheduled after it was postponed on March 22.
