Riverdale Baptist guard commits to Siena

basketball-hoopKenny Wormley, a 6-foot-3 rising senior point guard at Riverdale Baptist, has verbally committed to play college basketball at Siena.

“I am blessed and thankful to say I have committed to Siena College,” he tweeted on July 25. “Thanks to all who supported and helped me. #Siena #GoSaints #MAAC.”
Wormley became Siena’s first pledge in the 2015 recruiting class and will join a Saints program that has various Maryland ties.
The Siena roster boasts four Maryland natives, including Marquis Wright who played in the same Team Takeover AAU program with Wormley.
Additionally, Siena head coach Jimmy Patsos is a longtime University of Maryland assistant and former head coach at Baltimore’s Loyola University. At Maryland, Patsos was an assistant under Gary Williams for 13 years including the 2002 National Championship season.
“I am very excited to play for Coach Patsos,” said Wormley. “I haven’t heard nothing but good things about him and his coaching.”
As a junior last season, Wormley averaged 6.5 points per game and helped lead the Crusaders to a 30-9 record. He scored a season-high 24 points in a 71-57 victory over New Jersey’s Life Center Academy.
The Siena program also boasts Saints’ assistant and former Bowie State head coach Luke D’Alessio, who was instrumental in recruiting Wormley to the New York campus.
“I just loved the school, the coaches and the team,” said Wormley, who also considered Florida Gulf Coast, Norfolk State and Winthrop. “When I visited I instantly felt at home and thought this would be the perfect place for me. Perfect home for the next four years.”
