Copy of ashiamccallaGREENBELT – On Feb. 8, the Eleanor Roosevelt Lady Raiders girl’s varsity basketball team looked for their sixth straight win at home against DuVal. Roosevelt came out with a substantial 59-27 victory to keep their winning streak intact, but that home game meant more to others. Senior guard Ashia McCalla led her team with 15 points and four rebounds but also completed a milestone in her high school career as she scored her 1,000th point. Just as McCalla led her team to a win against the Tigers, she led the Lady Raiders to an unforgettable season.

Lady Raiders win regional title over Lady Panthers

ER Dianna McFarlaneGREENBELT – For the past three seasons, the same two teams have faced each other in the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) Girls Basketball 4A South Regional Finals. In 2016, Parkdale High School finally bested Eleanor Roosevelt in a shocking 45-42 victory, leaving a sour taste in then-sophomore Ashia McCalla’s mouth.

Lady Raiders drop Lady Clippers in county championship

AshiaMcCallaUPPER MARLBORO – Eleanor Roosevelt Head Coach Delton Fuller was in disbelief. Despite holding the Oxon Hill girls' basketball team to only seven points in the opening quarter, his Lady Raiders did not fare better, only scoring two points via free throws in the same time period during the Prince George’s County Championship on Feb. 22.
